What does 'Made in Occupied Japan' on the bottom of a tea cup indicate?

At the end of World War II in 1945 and until 1952, anything that was imported from Japan to the United States were required to be marked that they came from "Occupied Japan" or "Made in Occupied Japan."

Collectors look for these markings.
