New parents can use receiving blankets in several ways. Many moms use them at feeding time as burping cloths or nursing covers to prevent breast exposure. Some mothers use them as tummy time mats so they don't have to put their babies directly on the floor. Receiving blankets can also be used during outings as a travel blanket or makeshift stroller awning.
