You like to appear ignorant?
Report as
Emsicool is right scott i think you're taking it too serious is really not that bad, unless you can't understand what they are wrote.

You undermine your credibility if your grammar is poor. You appear to be undisciplined and ignorant. Your answers are therefore suspect. Maybe it doesn't matter between two friends sending text messages, but it does influence how strangers perceive you. It is also tiresome to interpret.
Report as
I agree with elizabeth, and if you can write well, you should. Also there is a huge difference in someone using an abbreviation such as B4 in place of before, and the thing that I can't stand, the incorrect use of there, their, and they're for example.
Report as
If you can understand what someone tries to say in his way of language is fine as long as we don't write any essays/stories to any magazine.
Report as
@scott just be cool ..!
Report as
I care! People come across as uneducated when what they write is full of grammar and spelling errors.
Report as
you didnt even say that right, its because this is neither school nor a test

Only yourself in the long run.

It tells the world " I am uneducated and I do not even know that I am". If that is the message you wish to send, then by all means, write any way you like.
Report as
except that you wouldn't know.fuzymunky from a stranger on the street. so its really only telling the world that some random guy on the internet is uneducated. and guess what? the world already knows that.
Report as
Lol oh my god u guys take answering a question on ask like im writing an article for the NY times seriously if that bothers you well than dats bad 4 u. Get a life theres more to worry bout than if i mispell a word.
Report as
its not the fact that people misspell a couple words, its when they say "who cares, no one uses correct grammer anymore" because that trait of "I-dont-care-and-im-proud-of-it" will most likely appear in other aspects of their lives where they DO need to care

People don't use correct grammar is because either they don't know English well or just simple old typing. Since you're not writing an essay or anything, why not use improper grammar?

You have to understand that people are fast typers and that sometimes we make mistakes and in purpouse we write words in short terms like plp for people.

There is a difference between a typo and not knowing how to spell or what word choice to use.

They are uneducated, and most do not care to learn. I can tell so much about someone's level of education by their word choices. They're, their and there are my biggest pet peeves, but I have too many to list. Poor grammar is a reflection on a person, but the people who are the worst are not even aware they can't write well.

I used a comma where there shouldn't have been one. Their comments made me aware that I made a mistake. They're keeping me in check.
Report as
Thankyou for saying exactly what I wanted to say! I personally cannot stand it when people mix up: where, were, and we're. they're not that hard to remember, and it makes such a difference to the text, and how others percieve you.

I also have a true hate for misspronunciation (particularly the word pronunciation, it is so often spoken as pronounciation -.-) and an even larger hate for when teachers misspronounce their words.

I had a teacher in 5th grade, who used to correct my spelling on words that I had spelled correctly, with the incorrect spelling of words. i'm not sure quite how she managed to pass university, but I remember I didn't like her very much, and she disliked me.

Thats True! As long as you remember to turn it off when you need to write something formal. Like Pigeon English in Hawaii.
Report as
It should actually be "it's" as in it is quicker @ Kahy29, but I am sure you knew that and just forgot the apostrophe because typing one extra character is just too much work.
Report as
haha rite scottnrg i just ignore the mistakes! and munchylove yes yes:)
Report as
I'm really sorry, but I think perhaps you meant "incorrect"...? as opposed to "uncorrect"... which isn't a word.

Yes, short hand typing is fine, and each to their own is a good motto, but it doesn't take much time to press a few extra buttons.
(unless you're texting... that doesn't count.)

and it doesn't excuse mixing up where, were, and we're, or spelling "their" like this: "thier" (though yes, that may just be a typo.)
Report as
lol yeaahh

In Russia we don't believe in grammar!

t's slightly amusing that although you only wrote a short sentence, it has correct grammar and spelling.

Capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, Russia has a capital R for a name, an apostraphie in don't, and ! works as a fullstop.
^_^

Thankyou for your correct grammar!

It has a lot to do with when children are growing up, whether they are reading many books, whether they have a good education, and whether they have good role models in that aspect of life. If you grow up with illiterate parents, siblings, and friends it is far more likely than not that you will grow up illiterate.
