You could gain weight since you're not active after eating a meal.

The new science says that it will not cause weight gain. You will burn the amount of calories in a day that you burn. Doesn't really matter when you eat. It can on the other hand cause acid reflux and over time damage your esophagus. If you have to eat before bed lie on your right side with your head elevated some so your stomach will empty a little more quickly. :)

Eating before bed is bad! Don't eat anything 3 hours prior. You metabolism slows when sleeping and the body does not burn calories as efficiently. If you want a big gut, then go for it.
