Does sole custody mean that i have legal and physical custody?

I just got my divorce a few days ago and as I was reading the papers it says that i have "sole custody"..does this mean that i have legal and physical because it was not directed in my papers. My daughters father currently has supervised visitation, but i was just wanting to know if sole meant i had absolute care of her over everything? Thanks

It depends on the state. In California, custody is divided into legal custody (all major decisions) and physical custody (where the child lives on a day to day basis). If he has supervised visitation, you may have sole legal and physical custody, but again, it depends on which state you live in. Usually California courts designate specifically because it is really, REALLY hard to get sole legal custody.

Yes, Sole custody does mean that you have legal and physical custody. Sole means you are the "owner" in a sense. Yes, you have absolute care over her everything.

Yes but it dosent give you the right to keep the child from the father, not saying you are or want to I'm just stating because it's a common misconception.
