How can I convince my parent`s to get me a puppy? Also what kind is the best for a home? If not a puppy , any other good pets?

I want a puppy one that stays small , but my mom is worried it`s going to chew up everything and do it`s business on the carpet . I told her I would put a pen up to where it would stay in my room but I can`t convince her . If there aren`t any good ways to convince a parents , what are some other pets i can have fun having and have a better chance of getting it .

My mom didn't let me have my dog. But now she's in love with her. I'm the one spending money on my dog...maybe that's the big difference.

To convince your parent, you should first demonstrate your responsibility. You should also be flexible to accept an alternative pet if your parent declines to get you a dog. You can go for the toy dog breed of dogs, as the puppies that will stay small. For more information, go to http://www.wikihow.com/Persuade-Your-Parents-to-Get-a-Dog.

I had a chocolate lab before and they do chew some things up but if u train them from the start they won't be a trouble and there awosome house pets. they just want to do what u want to do :)
they can grow pretty big tho. just don't let them eat to much.

Think about a cat. They don't chew everything. You get a litter box and must keep it clean, but you don't have to walk a cat (even in rain/snow). They are pretty quiet (not much barking!!! Lol) and love to cuddle and sleep on the foot of your bed. You just keep food and water available, and they munch a lot at various times thru the day. They can be quite playful and fun too. It's another option to think about.

You don't mention your age. One way to show her you are responsible and would take care of a puppy (it is a big job), would be to try to volunteer at the animal shelter near to you. They always need people to help feed and clean up the cages. By doing this, it would also give you more experience around dogs. You might even find a small one that needs a home. If you do, you could take a picture of it, show the photo to Mom, it would probably melt her heart, and she would give in! I also love my cockatiel, he is very well trained and goes everywhere I do! They are lots of fun, but not too big to handle! Good luck!

guinea pigs are just like dogs(almost). They snuggle with u, u can walk them, you can give them a bath, you can teach them tricks, and the very very rarely bite:) i have one and she is perfect! but a dog that stays small and is non destuctive is a sheep dog mix(i think thats what they are called) or one of those saggy hot dog dogs
