I agree, I think pushups and bench press are the best exercises for the chest. You can work the chest in multiple ways, with weights, on the bench press and even using free weights. My personal favorite would have to be pushups, bench press and the butterfly machine.
Push ups, pull ups and chest presses (lieing on your back doing full bar bell presses) are all very good for you back. Presses being the best, then push ups, then pull ups. There are also machines at the gym that pin point your chest muscles specifically!
