I never deposit checks that are questionable. I got to the bank they were written on and cash them and have never had a prob. It will be on the person that wrote it. Hot check

If you put it in the bank and it bounces (i.e., the senders bank says it is either not valid or the sender lacked funds), the bank will remove the funds that were temporarily allotted to your account. This usually happens within 3 days to 4 weeks. In addition, most banks will charge you around $30. If you do not have enough money in your account for them to remove the funds and charge the fee, most banks will also charge you a second overdraft fee, usually around $30 as well. Some banks will also charge daily fees or interest on the missing funds and fees, and you can wind up with a huge debt. If you have the money in the account, you'll only wind up with about a $30 returned check fee. Best bet is to take it to the sender's bank and cash it. If I do not know the sender personally, I will only accept Postal Money Orders or Walmart Money Orders, and I make a living selling stuff on eBay.
