while cuddled in a blanket, rock them and trace your fingers lightly from forehead to tip of nose. It feels good so they relax and they close their eyes as a reflex. It worked on all 4 of my kids.

If the baby is really little (still fits in a baby car seat) set the car seat (with baby safely strapped in ) on the dryer and turn the dryer on. This actually works! Don't forget to watch the baby!

I think they actually have a special vibrating baby chair that works miracles.

Warm their milk ad put just a dab of honey in it. Then shut the light, let the mobile spin and....zzzzz.....

Can't give a baby honey under the age of one!!!

Why?

Thanks rayray....a dab won't hurt the baby! Not even a spoonful, just from the tip of a toothpick or something like that. You think I am trying to give a baby a sugar rush!

What's the Ferber method?

I'm curious about the Ferber method, too. Haven't heard of it before.
Report as
Named after Dr. Ferber. Basically baby is left to cry himself to sleep. The caregiver would limit the amount of times you go in to check on baby, until baby realizes he is not going to get reaction. Baby eventually falls asleep, and the cycle is ended.Takes about 3 or 4 nights of torture for baby AND parent.

It tortures me just reading about it. Babies are babies for too short of a time. Love and hold them while you can is my motto.

Many praise the Doc for this method, swear by it, it works, but it's a rough. : )

It is not the quality or beauty of your singing that quietens (well, spelling check here says that should be "quiets" the child, I don't know) anyway, back to the subject at hand..........the baby helps him to relax and go to sleep....it's the hum of your voice. As long as you're not bothering any one else, Sing up a storm!!

A warm bath and a rocker works great each baby is diffrent so try things and see what works best for yours babies could care less if you are a singer it is your voice that soothes and makes him feel safe and secure

A baby will adapt to how each person puts them to sleep. You're going to have to let them cry to learn. My husband just sets the baby in the crib and shuts the door. My nanny gives him the bottle while rocking him and then lays him down and rubs his back. FYI i am handi capped so i cannot carry the baby
