A lot of pounds have a no kill policy but each one is different so I would call around until I found one that has a no kill policy. The ones that have a no kill policy will keep the animal until it is adopted. Sometimes if a pound runs out of room at the shelter they will place the animal in a foster home until it's adopted. You might be able to find someone that would like to have a puppy and that way you will know that he's going to a good home.

Surrendering a pet. Some pounds require you to pay a fee for surrendering your pet. You would probably want to surrender to a shelter that has a no kill policy, sometime the situation changes depending on why you are surrendering.

It depends where you take him. We have no way of knowing since you did not say where you live.

Usually, county or city animal control departments or pounds will kill animals after a week.

If you want to put your dog up for adoption, contact your local SPCA or Humane Society, or some other animal rescue charity.

Make sure you ask about their kill or no kill policy before you give an animal away.
