I used to ask the exact same thing and pretty much refuse to make my bed... I think it'll sneak up on you as a "growing older" type of thing. Now that I live on my own, work, have school, bills to pay, dishes to clean, laundry to do, groceries to buy, food to cook, etc etc... I kinda like making my bed. It makes it makes my apartment feel less cluttered when I get home after a long day of work. It's easier to relax when things seem neat and tidy.
Also if you have company coming over, making your bed is one of the fastest ways to make your living space look less messy.
Anyway, I'm guessing for your mom it's just after a long day of work it's nice to come home to a clean house. Of course when I lived at home I'd just keep my door closed. Out of site, out of mind lol.
hi johnny, you make your bed because your mother said so! ha!!! it is good to 'honor your mother and father'!!! of course, if the rest of your room looks like a tornado hit it, then your bed being made up may look a bit outa place. :-) get your homework done, quit asking goofy questions, and continue to enjoy life!!!
When you grow up you can choose to make your bed or not make it. I choose not to make mine. I like the way it looks when it's made real neat but what's the point right? I'm not home all day to see it anyway. I only see it a few minutes before I get in it.
I resolved this issue one way very simply. I use a duvet cover over a comforter and no sheet. To "make the bed", all you have to do is straighten out the top blanket. Done. No tucking, no folding, no fluffing, no nada. Easy, simple, and it makes your room look a lot neater.
