Can you receive two tickets for violating a parking meter, when its the same meter, same car, same day, one hour apart?

I parked at a meter and went to a 6 hour lecture. I continued to go on break and add change. I forgot to go out the last half and when I did, I found a parking meter ticket on my dash. I paid that ticket and 8 wks later got a notice that I failed to pay the fine. I went to the office and provide proof that I paid the fine and was told that I had been issued two tickets that day for being parked on an expired meter. How can I receive two tickets for the same offense? There was only one ticket on my windshield, yet now the county is claiming that I owe another $40, but won't provide me a copy of the second citation it says I was issued. Suggestions?

You can get two parking tickets for violating a parking meter. The tickets are issued when you park at an expired meter. You can get more information from the ticketing offices or from a parking attendant.

Ask to go to the ALJ (admin law judge) in charge of parking enforcement and make your case. The appeal process is the appropriate way to appeal a fine.

I hope it worked out for you but as far as I know in Boston there is suppose to be a 6 hr rule. Ignore those other idiot answers. I fight tickets all the time and generally win a lot of them.
