A lot depends on your gender, and your vocal range! Some good ones that are good, upbeat audition songs are: ... "Good Morning, Baltimore," from Hairspray... ... "I Can Hear the Bells," from Hairspray... ... pretty much anything from Hairspray ;)... ... pretty much anything from 42nd Street... ... the title song from Thoroughly Modern Millie... ... "Gimme Gimme" from Thoroughly Modern Millie... ... "Aldonza," from Man of LaMancha (not happy, but it's upbeat in tempo!)... ... title song from Into the Woods... ... "Alive," from Company... ... "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" from Sound of Music (not quite upbeat in tempo, but uplifting in lyrics and if you can sing it well, it will show your range)... ... "Popular," from Wicked... ... DO NOT sing "On My Own" or "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables- everyone sings them for auditions, and they are both WAY overdone!! ... As someone who has auditioned a lot, I would recommend that you find something that fits your vocal range and shows off your ability as a performer, rather than just being upbeat. Break a leg! <3
There are various Broadway songs that can assist you in improving your performance in your auditions like; Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, Fever by Peggy lee and Alone by Heart. You can also consult your music teacher on what song you should take on.
