why is ethnocentrism good

Report as

Ethnocentrism refers to a society’s tendency to place its culture at the very center, often leading people to the “mine is better” way of thinking. This idea is good, in a way, because it encourages unity and solidarity within a group. It also promotes social change and cements a member’s loyalty to its group. Of course, ethnocentrism is considered by many to be a double-edged sword. Even with its benefits to society, it has been seen to cause conflicts and tension externally.
