How do you get your pet bird to love you?

What kind of bird do you have? Some birds are strange when rffection is shown to them, if you hold it a few times a day, and try to pet them, raising th feathers on the back of it's head, and show you trust it, and allow it to gain your trust. You bird will bond to you.
