Hi garcia840. Vitamin D plays a key role in keeping bones strong and helping the body absorb calcium. There are two ways to get vitamin D--from your diet and from the sun. If you live in a warm, sunny climate, just 10 minutes of direct sunlight on your face and arms each day may be enough.
It can be difficult to meet vitamin D requirements through diet--very few foods naturally contain the nutrient. Oily fish, such as tuna, salmon, and mackerel, along with fish liver oil, may be the best dietary sources of D. If you don't eat fish, many multivitamins contain a vitamin D supplement.
