There are other ways to be involved, like when I was in your boat because I messed-up my knee - I used to mop the court before the game and between halves. I made it fun by doing goofy Zamboni-like formations.
It's always a good thing to involve yourself in extracurriculars, especially sports. It gets you motivated and active, you learn hard work and it's resulting rewards and determination. And if you want to make some new friends, it's like the best idea since you'll be seeing your team all the time when you have a game which is very often! But if this is getting in the way of important family things, school (school always comes first and then fun activities like this, it's almost like a reward), then stop. You gotta learn your priorities. I know how hard time management and organization can be, I'm probably the worst procrastinator in the world! :( if you think you can handle it and it's just something you enjoy too much to eliminate out of your life, then stay with it. Making some adjustments and time is key here. Good luck :)
