The middle back, the 12 vertebrae between the neck and the lower back. Also known as the ‘thoracic spine’, these are the vertebrae where the ribs attach.

It is the thoracic spine. Think dorsal fin on a shark.

Dorsal vs ventral means the back of the back versus the front of the back. The dorsal aspect is the rear half of the spine. The sections of the spine are the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral; the WHOLE back can be divided into ventral and dorsal aspects.
