Do plays skip years?

I'm trying to write a short one act for drama class, and need to know if it's okay to go from thirteen to eighteen to about the mid-twenties.

Although is rare, some plays do skip years. However, playwrights advice actors to avoid skipping years as much as they can. They should let the audience to know that some years have gone by through the lines of actors.

You might seriously confuse your audience, if you could find a way to have a narrator that also might help and make your text as clear as possible
