The Soap Operas were taken off the program listings because of the decline in ratings. Most of the soaps are only being watched by a mere 1.3 million viewers which makes them non-profitable to networks. Currently, there are only four daytime soaps that are airing including Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital.

It's all about money. Networks want to sell advertising time. Advertisers want people to see their products and services. You put your ads on the shows with the most eyeballs watching. Soaps don't draw the viewership they used to when they had no competition.
