If you get a new computer, can you switch your account from your old computer to your new one?

I am considering buying myself a new MacBook Air and giving this computer (a MacBook Pro) to my brother. Can I switch this account to my new computer or do I have to start all over?

Yes, you could switch your account from the old computer to the new one. Your operating system's built-in tools to migrate all your data. You may be required to hook up the two Macs with a FireWire cable. Or you could transfer data from a time machine back up drive if you have one.
