I think the best would be picking two colors that contrast; like baby blue and chocolate brown, or lavender and mint green. If you have already chosen a flower, its color should help you come up with the wedding color that you desire. Colors that are easy to work with in any wedding are white, black, pink, light blue and red.

The color you like the best is always what you should go with. If you are wearing white and your groom is in black any other color you choose will be great. As Janemoo stated the flowers you have chosen are always helpful in your selection of the bridesmaids dresses. If your favorite flower is a red rose then go with red and white, if yellow daisies, then green, yellow and white is nice. I actually was at a wedding where each bridesmaid had a different color dress, same style, and they had decorated everything with those colors, the church and the reception was quite lovely. Don't worry too much about the color scheme just choose what you like. If it's gold, go with it. Champagne, light yellow, beige, brown, black all look great with gold.
