how long does it take for an episiotomy to heal

Report as

I had a 4th degree(the nasty of the nasty). It felt like my anus was going to fall to the floor for the first couple weeks. I found that getting a bottle with a top on it(like a water bottle from the store with the "pull to open" tops, the hospital gave me one when I left) worked the best with warm water, in the shower of course. Also, ALSO! invest in the over the counter antiseptic spray(DERMOPLAST). :) Hope this helps!

An episiotomy is a surgical cut to a woman's perineum. On average, it takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal, though you may experience some tenderness or discomfort for a longer period than that.
