Why is confidentiality so important in a medical office? Give an example of what you could do to maintain confidentiality.

Confidentiality is important so as to avoid people knowing about other patient's illnesses. Some illnesses are sensitive and thus have to be confidential so as to avoid some form of discrimination. To maintain confidentiality, one can ensure that patient files are locked in a cabinet and their lab results are not discussed with other people.

Never talk about a patient to another patient. Only call them by the first name, not their last name.
