What does "uses allowed characters" mean in passwords?

When you apply on certain sites to get a password, it says that you must have "uses allowed characters" as well as several other stipulations, such as "must have one capital letter and contain only alphanumerics." I have been trying to figure out what on earth that means, but I can't! Does anyone know?

Allowed characters is different for every site. Some sites want, the first letter to be capitalized and the rest lower case. Other sites want a combination, of upper and lower case letters and a number thrown in. Look on the site and see what they want.

That means use at least one capital letter in your password and only standard numbers (12345) and letters (abcd), no punctuation symbols (#$@.,) Hope that helps
