How do you figure out how many squares or boxes you need in your punnett square?

Report as

Figuring out how many squares or boxes you need in a punnett square can be quite tricky. A simple way to start is to first consider the variable. For example you are attempting to figure out the genotype of two parents. Draw a square and divid the box into four sections. We know that we will need four squares by multiplying the number of parents by two. We multiply by two because we are squaring 2 (the number of parents).
