It's funny it seems that more and more teens are using text lingo rather than english. A friend of mine is a high school teacher and he told me that I would be shocked to see how many students he has to talk to because they use text lingo on school work. I think the reason everyone uses it so much is because they are texting all the time and seem to use text more often than regular English. Hopefully this stops soon so in 50 years we don't have a society that speaks in abbreviations and emoticons. :)
We just were talking about this in my business communication class. It not only teens using text lingo, my professor showed our class papers that college students used "lol," "ttyl," and other texting terms on their papers. My professor told us if he gets another paper with any texting terms used, he is going to give us a F. When we discuss this topic, we all came to the fact that we are lazy and that is why we talk and write in text.
