Can you die from smoking Weed by it's self?

For a school project

Although I am against smoking weed, drinking, other drugs, I honestly don't think there has ever been a case of "overdosing" on pot. Now, that being said, ANYTIME you consistently breathe in smoke of any kind, it's going to have adverse effects on the lungs. Also, unlike cigarettes (which are the WORST KILLERS) marijuana will affect your reflexes and senses. So, if you get high, then drive a car, you may kill yourself, your friends, and any other innocent person out there on the road. My advice: Just enjoy life....REAL LIFE. With all this world offers (some good, some bad) why do you want to be altered? There is enough "stuff" to experience in the world, that one person could never do it all. To be cliche'......be high on life, man.

WebMD Health News

Dec. 1, 2005 - People who drive after using marijuana are nearly twice as likely to be involved in a fatal car crash.

French researchers studied all drivers involved in fatal car crashes over a two-year period and found 7% tested positive for marijuana, including nearly 3% who tested positive for a combination of marijuana and alcohol.

Although marijuana's share of fatal crashes is much lower than those attributed to alcohol, researchers say the results show that marijuana use, even in low doses, significantly increases the risk of fatal car accidents.
More Pot, More Deaths

In the study, published in the medical journal BMJ, researchers reviewed information on 10,748 drivers who were involved in fatal car crashes and took required tests for drugs and alcohol.

Twice as many drivers involved in fatal car accidents tested positive for marijuana compared with a group of other drivers.

Researchers say about 2.5% of the fatal crashes were attributable to marijuana compared with nearly 29% attributable to alcohol.

The study also showed that drivers who tested positive for marijuana were more than three times as likely to be responsible for the fatal car crash. Researchers say the likelihood of being at fault increased as the blood concentration of marijuana increased.

More people are involved in drunk driving accidents, because more people DRINK than use marijuana. If everyone switched from alcohol to pot, you would see the incidence of pot related crashes go up. ANYTIME you alter your mind, your chances of having an accident go up. You can't tell me being high doesn't lower your response time.

Those statistics are flawed and invalid. The study cites that 7% tested positive for marijuana, but as you can test positive for pot up to two months after smoking, the likly hood is that most of that 7% we're not high when they wrecked, they may have just smoked with in 6 weeks of wrecking. Then they wreck and people think they must have been high.

I was not advocating smoking and driving, driving under the influence of any substance is retarded. I was simply stating that the study noted here has bad data. Also most people who are high, are going to sit on the couch and watch tv and eat, not go for a drive. As well the use of any othe drug on the planet including Tylenol has a higher chance killing you than smoking pot.

Where do you get your data...just curious. So you know for sure that this study is flawed. How do you know? Just like you know that most people who are stoned are just going to sit on the couch and and eat? What if they run out of munchies. Then they must drive to the store. See how dumb this whole argument is? If you would see my very first comment, I said that I didn't think anyone had ever died from "smoking" pot. It's the consequential effects. Like driving while high. And I don't see how you could possibly know that no one is going to drive while high. Furthermore. It is ILLEGAL unless your like robertahyuk up there who's doctor thinks he/she needs it. So go smoke your weed man...have a ball.....I prefer to live life in the real world and experience situations while not in a haze. But, that's just me.

You are not the issue here. This is a kid (probably) who is asking the question. Instead of singing the praises of pot to him, why not tell him not to start it. It may not kill him, but at the very least, he could get into legal trouble. It is STILL ILLEGAL. But I beat a dead horse here. Signing off.

Weed effects your brain's nervous system. If you smoke too much of it, you'll turn out like chichi and Chung or Wayne in Wayne's world which would be far worse than the death itself. I think in an medical usage it's fine IMO.

No, marijuana use has never resulted in a death, solely attributed to the drug itself. it's impossible to overdose on marijuana.

Actually... You can overdose on Marijuana. but not by smoking it. if you ingest the raw bud then you would be poisoned by the amounts of THC ingested. However in small amounts ingesting Marijuana takes longer to take effect but the high lasts longer 2-5 hours. to be exact. but if you need any additional info you should go to erowid.org, they have lots of information on any drug.
