This app terrified me! My husband suggested to download after our neighbor told us about it. She uses it to video chat with her husband when he is working overseas. Not 30 seconds after I set it up I started getting back to back requests to chat from pervs. One outright asked me for sex in the initial request. Of course I ignored them but the amount received was stifling. Then I started getting random phone calls from local numbers I did not recognize. It is 1:54am and my phone just rang which led me to search information this app. Looking into it more I found where it actually shows random people within your immediate distance from your current location.. My husband immediately said to delete it and he did so as well. He did not receive any unwanted texts or requests but for a full hour I was getting requests alerts every 5 seconds, I kid you not! This terrified me. We were hoping to have found a neat program to be able to video chat when he is working out of town. He has an interesting job that brings him to unique locations that he was hoping to be able to share with me. Horrible program!
Only thing I know is that Tango is spamming my inbox with several mails every week, asking me to confirm my registration... just because once I opened their app on my ipad (after which I deleted it). I wrote to their customer service - no solution. I would definitely NOT suggest this app.
My friend installed Tango on his I-phone and I got the message; "Get the frees Tango app at http://tango.net/r/j. Then give me a call" So the app is definitely accessing the contact list and sending messages to all.
Install carefully and check the options before installing.
I got the same sms and as I was waiting for a similar text from a colleague ( we were looking for some html5 script that would let us make a website play autoplay music on an iPhone) i clicked on it and installed it ( I assumed that this was an app that had some sort of capability in it that my partner wanted me to see - when i asked my partner why he had wanted me to see the app some fifteen minutes after had not actually sent the spam advert from Tango - from his own fone - it became apparent that he he had not fact initiated the SMS - I then removed the App from my phone. The next day the texts started to leave from my phone - so whatever this is we have is not removing and leaves some malware on the phone that abuses the fone book. I will try to contact Tango to discuss this issue buut i fear that only a total wipe will remove this issue.
