What came first cursive handwriting or manuscript handwriting? Also who invented cursive and manuscript?

Report as

There are many different types of cursive and many different types of writing in general. I am not sure what you mean by manuscript compared to cursive, though. Some of the earliest forms of writing are Cuneiform and other pictographic systems, which were used throughout the world. Depending on what you consider cursive, Chinese brush script is a fairly old system, but modern cursive (American Palmer hand or later) was invented in the 20th century. European monks had black letter scripts, and Italy has had various forms of scripts as well dating back into the pre-Christian era.
