What size storage shed can i build without a permit

Report as

Perhaps Florida is different ..... But... All cities here are different and can even vary from subdivision to subdivision depending on the HOA in each area. HOAs must approve first if you have one or no dice. They both can also tell you where to put it depending on your specific lot.
Make 2 calls....
One to your HOA
And one to code enforcement in your city
Where I live there is no HOA or code .... I can build what I want , where I want , when I want.... Of course we're not in city limits but it's definitely a perk for country living. Good luck

In most areas, people don't need building permits for buildings that have an area of less than 110 square feet. However, it is always good to inquire with your local permit office since each regions has its own laws regarding erecting a building.

In Florida it's 12'x12' (144sq. Ft.) w/hurricane straps and anchors.
You can call one of the big box stores and ask them what the largest storage shed is that they sell that doesn't require a permit and that will be the size you'r looking to build. Then you can compare the cost associated with buying a store bought shed or a DIY Shed.

Hurricane anchors for a 12x12 ?!?!? Well I guess that makes sense for Florida but that could sure increase the cost for a lousy little shed...
