If a cop puts themselves into a position to get a group of people, are they required to get them all?

If a group of people are all speeding along, and by the time the cop gets to the lead to pull them over, if the rest of the cars are still going the same speed, are they required to pull over all offenders?

Yes, cops are required to pull over all speeding offenders. According to the Department of Public Safety, the officers have speedometers in their vehicles that are professionally calibrated to detect over speeding. However, it is difficult to pull several cars over for speeding if they don't have the radar gun. These guns help them to measure speed from a lateral angle from where the police cars are parked.

Police have discretion to stop whoever they want as long as they have reasonable cause. There is no requirement to stop everyone they see that is speeding. In other words, if they pull you over it is NOT a defense that others were speeding and were not pulled over.

what about in the case of 7 cars on a two lane highway with 20 miles till the next exit? He even put himself in a position where he could have gotten all 7, and no one of the group was swerving.

Sorry, it's not a defense that others were speeding, too.
