A lucid dream is where you have a dream while you are asleep, and you can control your dream. There is no way to make yourself have a lucid dream, and not make yourself. It is just where something "clicks" in your brain, and it happens. Some people say on the internet that you have to keep a dream journal, and all this other stuff, but don't believe any of that. Lucid dreaming is something that you can neither control, or stop.
I once had one. When I was dreaming and it got scary, I said "Okay, I wanna wake up now!" Then I realized I was in a dream, and why not have some fun? Start a dream when your in a semi-waking state. What I mean by this 1.)Imagine yourself in a place your well familiar with. 2.)Then start doing stuff. 3.)Imagine a new object on your person that you don't own. This will identify the dream state. 4.)Interact and enjoy.
Doesn't always work only about 50,50 at first. Like anything though the more you practice the more it works. By the way ALWAYS tell your self that you will wake up fully rested before starting, otherwise you will wake up tired. ALWAYS imagine the new object or you can become lost in a dream state and become comatose. This should not be attempted on any kind of drugs or alcohol.
Some people are incapable of this state of controlled dreaming it just like everything else in life some can and some can't.
