Can anyone tell me some points for tomorrow's debate competition?the topic is men are more intelligent than women.

It is a really offensive debate question. Regardless, the answers all depend on who values what. It is not gender that determines who is smartest: it is intelligence. Parenting style, education, culture, freedom to explore, access to reading material early in life, and living with equality as a lifestyle are all major factors. In my class, there are only two girls. When one of them speaks, all the boys go silent to listen. They are smarter than all the boys put together; this is a fact that the boys openly admit. In my other class, there are only four boys. Two are smart and two are as dumb as a plank. I don't know who provided the question, but try to influence debate questions in the future to be more interesting and productive than this one.

I find that genetics, opportunity, a calm and fair homelife, resources, book ownership from childhood, and interested parents are behind the smartest kids. It's just not gender. If women had had equal opportunity, they would have been on the moon and at the bottom of the sea. The old boy's club needs to die off and be replaced with people with modern thinking. Thanks for the greenery.

Men are more intelligent than women because they perform better in various sciences than women generally. It is also believed that men are more intelligent because of the fact that they were made to rule over everything by God.

Hmmmm ... well more women are in college than men these days, but most of the greatest inventors and scientists have been men. Then again that could've been because women throughout most of mankind's history have been relegated to the kitchen. Intelligence isn't decided by chromosomes, intelligence is something you gather. But based on your topic, bring up the fact that only 12 people, all males have walked on the Moon. Only 2 people have been to the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean, both males. Our greatest accomplishments were performed by men as well as most of the scientists behind these achievements.

As far as walking on the moon and the bottom of the sea, it just means men are CRAZIER. And the others creating the means for such things to happen are FOOLISH. The concentration needs to be in reasonable places on reasonable things.

BlueSun, so you're saying exploration is crazy? If everybody had that attitude we'd all still be crammed into northeastern Africa. It's human nature to explore, there's nothing foolish about it. Your statement makes the argument for your opposition.

Here's a thought you can chase up for your own area.

In New South Wales (the finest and most populous of the Australian states) girls register the top matriculation scores much more frequently than boys.

In the world of Chess, women were long held to be second-rate players. That has all changted, largely due to three Hungarian sisters -- Zsusza (Susan), Yudit (Judith) and Sofia Polgar. These three were capable of beating almost any man on the planet and Judith made her way into the top ten listing. She was a serious World Championship contender. She's had a couple of babies since then and hasn't concentrated on her chess but is still ranked (if memory serves) in the top forty.

Women in chess may be one of the angles you could pursue if you're taking the contrary view. If you want more information and specifics, leave a note in the comments box and I'll give you information and links.

Incidentally, I once had the opportunity of playing Susan. She took on ten of us at the same time. It was like playing chess with a boa-constrictor. She took a-hold of my position and just SQUOZE.

She's one of the big names in organising and coaching women's chess in the US now, ms.t. She's been doing that for some years now.

Women can multitask in ways that men can't because of the way our brain is wired. ( our hemispheres literally have connections that male brains do not). We also know before men do when they are about to do something stupid...;)

I think you can point to the fact that there are more men than women in jail and prison (accounting for only 7% of prison population). If they aren't smarter, they are at least smart enough to avoid being caught.

It's the same in Canada. Prison is populated mostly by men and male youth offenders. Very few people in jail are women.

Even if men are more intelligent than women (not even), women automatically win at life because we carry children for nine months and gove birth.
