What causes hiccups?

i keep randomly getting frequent hiccups, its annoying and i dont know why they happen or how to make them stop right away

i know how to stop them right away! get a cup of water, keep the cup straight, bend over, and drink the water from the opposite side of the cup u usually drink from!!! THIS WORKS EVERY TIME!!! so amazing!!

this doesn't stop the hiccups right away but try holding you breath or drink water

For me it's not laughing cause I laugh all day lol but I would say drinking a lot ( fast ) or something like that

Hiccuping happens when your diaphragm jerks up and your lungs take in air.

hiccups are sudden jerks of the diaphragm since you dont laugh a lot try what ILOVEWILL said the cup drink from other side
