Why does a co-worker not make eye contact?
As a nurse, I like people, and I do expect people, particularly co-workers, to look me in the eye when I talk to them. There is this intern pharmacist at my work who never, or rarely, looks me in the eye when I talk to him about patient care. One time, I asked him about a particular medication about an important patient situation, he told me to address this to the pharmacist -- he answered looking at the chart, without looking at me!! Another time, I asked him if he was the one who sent me some medications of a particular patient -- he said 'no' without even looking at my face while he is sitting down!! There was also a time when I looked at him because I was about to say 'hi' -- he looked at me for 2 1/2 seconds and then quickly took his gaze away from me!!
I am a very caring person, particularly for my patients. I am a natural leader and very smart, and very much well-liked by other nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals at work. I am hard working and at the same time carry a very positive, cheerful attitude.
I don't understand his behaviors. Please help.
The interesting thing is he talks normally, with eye contact, to other nurses and even laughs at their jokes!!!
