How do i find out how much a company makes in a year?

Husband and I got fired from a company in Florida. Husband worked there for almost 2 years and never received his overtime pay. His boss knew he needed the money and had to work for straight pay. We contacted an attorney who told us we couldn't sue because in Florida, unless a company makes over 500,000 a year, they don't have to pay overtime or even minimum wage. So, I need to find out how much they make a year.

Unless it is a publically traded corporation, you have no legal right to see any financial statements at all as all paperwork is strictly private and not open to inspection by outside non governmental entities.

You have already spoken to an attorney and got your answer.

If possible, find the company on line and check for their annual statement. If that is not available, then call the company, start with the receptionist, and politely request a copy of their annual statement be mailed to you. That is generally public information especially if the company is publicly held.

It is not public information at all, unless they are a publically traded company listed on a stock exchange.

Information I gave was not intentionally wrong. I answered to the best of my knowledge, having worked for a corporation that was publicly traded. I apologize. I missed the part where you had already consulted with an attorney. :- /

If this company makes less that $500,000 a year, it is most likely a private company and they don't have to share their financial statements with anyone. There had to have been a time during the two years of employment that he worked over 40 hours. Was he paid regular or overtime pay on the next paycheck? Good luck and hope everything works out for both of you.
