I know in many legends that owls are supposed to be the symbol of wisdom, power, and magic. I don't think I've ever heard of it as being bad luck. I don't know why that seems to be happening, but if you believe that it is bad luck, it will be. So just be careful.
I Agree With The First Part Of Momo...But Also Keep In Mind That Cultral && Religious Traits && Beliefs May Vary. I Believe That To The Asian Culture, Seeing An Owl Or Turtle On The Prime Days Of Chinese New Years Is Considered Bad Omen, Bad Luck, This Just Depends On Personal Beliefs. Hope This Helped (: Just Comment If You're Still Unsure.
East Africa: the Swahili believe the Owl brings illness to children,. Africa, West: the messenger of wizards and witches, the Owl's cry presages evil, Arabia: the Owl is a bird of ill omen, the embodiment of evil spirits that carries off children at night. Aztecs: one of their evil gods wore a Screech Owl on his head. These are only a few that I found on www.owlpages.com, there are also others about the owl being good fortune but I hope this helps.
