Our brains are kind of geared towards survival. If we were in the wilderness, we would want to hoard as many calories as we could for the lean months of winter. Sadly some of our brains still are geared like this and it can be extremely hard to overcome. Things you can try. Start trying to use an artificial sugar to make your sweets with. This will cut back calories significantly. I personally recommend Splenda, it doesn't have as bad as taste as some others on the market, but all come with a slightly un natural taste. Second take husk fiber. It expands in your stomach to make you feel full, which is a problem for many. If the tank doesn't feel full, you want to load up. Also try drinking flavored no calorie water, it gets the sweetness you need with none of the bad effects and they seem to mask the bitter taste the best. I hope this info helped and best of luck overcoming the cravings.

Careful of the artificial sweeteners. They can actual increase your appetite for sugar because they are usually significantly sweeter tasting than real sugar.

Instead of grabbing for a sugary treat, eat a fruit. They are very sweet and much healthier. (:

Try the rubber band method.
Every time you find yourself craving it. Snap yourself.

You may be a carbohydrate addict caused by low blood sugar. There is a way to balance the blood sugar with diet. See the carbohydrate addicts diet at http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/caprograms.html
