If you can move it, it isn't broken. I've had that before. During basketball my finger bent and it hurt really bad and it swelled up. It hurt for a while, but eventually it felt better and the swelling went down.
You probably sprained it. If you sprained it, wrap a bandage around your finger along with gauze to keep it straight. Just keep your finger straight&within the next week it should be healed or at least the swelling should go down.
All right the whole if you can move it it isn't broken is complete nonsense I've shattered my wrist and managed to play lacrosse on it for a couple of days before the pain became unbearable. Usually it may be broken I it's swollen, slightly purple in color, and moves differently than it used to, hope this helped
If you broke your finger, you would be screaming and crying. Put ice on it. You probably just sprained it (yes that's possible) if the swelling doesn't go down after a few days, get it checked out. Also apply different measures of pressure to it. Does it hurt when you bend it a little? Does it send searing pain through your hand if you poke it?

I dont know If mine is broken either one of the first aiders at my school bent it around and ( It hurt so much! ) told me to stop milking it and sent me outside! but mine really hurts although it did bend ( when it was forced ) You can feel it crunch and at the time i heard a little clicky snap is mine broken? The thing is it hurt so much a few tears came into my eyes when she was bending it around and when I first did it but apart from that I didnt is it? Also one last thing I taped them together and put a folded in half cotton pad in-between was it the right thing to do?
I was playing basketball and I hurt it somehow.....it is black and blue right in the crease of the middle joint. I can make a fist but it hurts and certain spots are really sensitive. It is swelling but the swelling has kinda gone down and one side has thumped out a little. HELP!!
