American bulldogs are very dominant and also very protective breed by nature but they are also very loving towards their own family, but they will show aggression towards strangers due to their protective instinct. American bulldogs, are great with children and are very loving and protective with them. I have several family members who have American bulldogs and they do great with their young children, However, this is a very strong and powerful breed with a very strong prey drive, which is easily set off by an excited, running, screaming child. So always use caution when small children are present especially around strange children, due not only to the dog's prey drive but also the protectiveness toward strangers.
It's all the same story for all dogs. It just depends on how they are raised and trained and treated. I have a customer who owns an American bull dog and also has a young daughter, and she says this dog is great as a family dog and loves the little girl. Some would say golden retrievers are perfect as family dogs but they are just as prone to hurt a child or attack someone as any other dog. Even those are just as prone to "attack!". You hear of attacks with golden retrievers quite often, though, because they are the most popular family dog.

It depends on how it has been educated. If the dog was bred with other dogs in a socialized environment, it will be more friendly with kids. In the www.hameaudesbulls.com, the dogs are raised with complete dedication and you can see many videos of them playing with kids.
