What are the conditions necessary for an object to attain and then stay in orbit around earth?

Report as

An altitude of about 200 miles = 300 kilometers, plus a horizontal speed of about 18,000 miles per hour = almost 11 kilometers per second. The orbit needs to be close to round.Higher and slightly slower is necessary to avoid re-entry for many years. Neil
