Why was the golden gate bridge red not gold

Report as

Well, California is considered the GOLDEN state. We had a big gold rush back in the 1840's....Plus red is the most logical color. Since it's the color of rust, if the bridge starts to look rusty the red paint will hide it. And it takes years to paint the bridge so they want to limit time and energy.
