dont admit your guilty.there was a video on youtube in which a man(lawyer or detective or something) was teaching a class and he said its best if the person doesn't admit his/her guilt.but it could be different in your case.just check it out on youtube.

just relax dont lie to the judge, explain about your situation, then ask him if you can do community service..... most judges understand people are in tight spots, you may get the help you seek.

Hi Terradoxy - I think all you can do is explain the stuation to the judge and hope you get a good one.
I think it's pretty usual that if you go to court, you'll get a smaller fine.
Be sure to mention you're a professional driver, and your income is very limited. If you weren't going too much above the limit you shouldn't be dinged too badly.

Here's a ray of hope. Your decision to go to court can easily turn out in your favor. In traffic court the police-person who gave you the ticket must appear in person to support the merits of the ticket, and most of the time they don't show up, the judge then dismisses the case for cause. You might walk out of there without the fine.
I have not done this myself but my ex is a policeman, he never went to court for a simple speeding ticket. So finger's crossed and knock on wood, and make a good impression on that judge. Good Luck!

On the subject of being nervous and crying, yeah you have every right to be nervous, you have every right to cry your eyes out. Seeing how your job depends on it, and your financial future. Know this, the cops that wright tickets, the judge, the bailiff, and everyone else is use to being in court. People like you and I are terrified. Those people could care less!
So be nervous, but if you can, when it's 'go' time, keep your composure.

Fight it. You live in my home...talk to the DA before court time...explain your situation & stress that driving is YOUR LIVELIHOOD and this ticket could cost you your only source of income...at this point, tears are acceptable...just don't snot all over his expensive suit. He may (and should) offer that thing where they make it look like you got a ticket for a non moving offense (like expired registration). You'll still have a fee to pay, but our great state takes payments and I promise you...if you need help paying it, my first paycheck is yours...you just let me know.

In Tyler, when you go to traffic court the DA is there & will meet with you before hand. If he works out a deal, he takes his recommendation to the judge (who usually signs it) and the problem is solved. Here's what you need to keep in mind...being that career change you & I have been talking about mixed with the CSA 2010 (you'll learn more about that later) and the way the court has of looking at CDL holders differently. A moving violation will be classified as a serious offense or a disqualifying offense...either one of those will prohibit you from doing what you are wanting to do for another 3 years. This is a trucker rule...fight EVERY ticket...even if you did deserve it. You've got a clean MVR...that is worth something...trust me. You really need to try and keep it clean...besides the ticket, think about your insurance premiums...AND YOUR JOB! Come on sister...buck up & fight this! Now let me hear you growl!!! And I'll get with you in email world to get the info needed to send you what you need for the fines.
I know in my state I went to the court and spoke with the court lawyer on duty. There was a tiny exception where I could basically have one ticket erased. Only one. They went ahead and erased it off my record. It wasn't a terrible speeding fine. I think 8 miles over and not in a school zone. See if you can apply something like that. We have the Traffic court DAs that we can talk to for free in the traffic court building. Go before your court date and see what you can do. If a policeman gave it, absolutely go to court. If the policeman doesn't show the case is dropped. Plus, just speaking you mind and saying what happened can always give you the chance to have the judge lower the charge. I also had a speeding ticket turned into a no seatbelt ticket ( I was wearing one but it is a lesser fine) just by going and talking one of the assistant traffic court DAs. So, showing up to court gives you a much better chance of the charge being dropped. Be prepared though, You have to pay some If not all of the fine that night.
