I eat about 0-500 calories a day, and sometimes more if say I am going out with friends or my family. When I eat more than 800 a day, I will throw it up. However, sometimes I will throw everything up besides dinner. I am saying this not to encourage you to do it, but to show the other people who are saying you will die, is that it clearly doesn't happen to everyone, because I am still living. I loose about 3 pounds a week steadily. At the beginning I lost about 5 per week. I have also not rebounded(people say when you starve yourself, you end up gaining it back, but that depends on your self control really. If I am hungry, I drink alot of water so I feel sick and won't even wantt to eat.
DONT do that!!! Your body goes into starvation mode. You need more than 800 calories just for the regular functions. If you are very young you can get away with it for now but your body will ultimately pay for it.
It's really starting to piss me off when a person is asking a particular question about a particular diet and the entire audience goes nuts, trying to convince the person that is not healthy to eat less than 900, 1500, 2500 cal. I was on 800 diet for about a week and I lost 4 lb (without exercise). I am using Lose It! website to track the calories I eat. Although it's hard and sometimes I feel hungry (especially at night time) - I am planning to stick with it till October - I am planning to lose 30 lb. Really, people, what about all these comments? The America is freaking overweight. The aliens will come and eat you all. It's like everyone owns a grocery store and afraid that sells will go down if people start eating less.
YES!!! You'll lose about 3-4 pounds a week. It's not unhealthy. It just depends on whether or not you get fruit, veg and meat - grains help too. Get a little food scale and weigh your food in oz. Those foods work together to burn fat and strengthen your muscle so you can continue to burn fat. BTW, a protein diet is epic due to it burning body fat for energy. Oddly, trimmed beef is low in calories and your body can sustain itself on that for days - also, your body will burn more calories by digesting meat. 800 calories is cool if you just eat the right stuff.
Don't listen to anyone but you. All of these people will de-rail you being motivated enough to keep going. Heck, you can lose weight eating 500-800 cals. a day if you are taking your vitamins. After about a week, starvation mode wears off and your body will work with what you give it. Put it this way, you are going to lose more weight than anyone here if you stick to your diet. Go for it and bring forth results to prove to the masses that they probably should quit stuffing their faces.
I had major surgery back in January and like most people, I gained a little weight. My doctor actually put me on a strict 800 calories a day diet plan. I will say I started it yesterday and I've had a headache for 2 days. The hunger part isn't the problem. It's just the fatigue and headaches. Drinking water seems to help....but I figured I'd try this for 2 weeks and see how I feel after that. If I still feel bad, I will stop. Your body has a way of healing itself and will tell you when something isn't good for you.

This diet in safe providing that you are getting all your essential vitamins and minerals, which is difficult to do on such low calorie diet but there are food supplements that can provide that. Also these diets are only recommended for short periods of time which can differ from person to person so advice from your doctor would be useful. You could do this for 2 weeks on 2 weeks off providing you still eat healthily on your weeks off that you will still lose weight just at lower rate and continue this until you reach desired weight or in your case you could go for 3 weeks but return to a healthy diet when 3 weeks up. i would say you could possibly lose around a stone.
To lose 1 kg, you theoretically have to cut back on 3850 calories per week or 550 calories per day, so calculate :D For better diet program, visit this page http://tinyurl.com/nutritionmaster you can find many useful information's there! good luck with losing your weight ;)
I cannot give you a clear estimate since there's a large role your metabolism actually plays here. I've used http://goo.gl/6qdtvT which has some pretty good advice to lose & keep off your weight, which is the most important part. Yes, eating less is important, but you also need to know how to eat SMART. Good luck with your efforts!
The starvation mode myth should be read by everyone on this thread. It's a lie we've all been told; hence the obesity we find in most Western societies today! Your body does not need as many calories as we've been told.. and neither do we need to eat every 3 hours like grazing cows..
I have ate only 550 calories a day for almost two weeks and the weight just fell of. The first week I lost 6 pounds! This week I have lost 3 pounds. I usually skip breakfast and just eat lunch which is usually a little snack and then another little snack at dinner time and Im never hungry bc once your stomach gets used to the way you eat and consume such less amount you become stuffed with such little. I never feel tired I function normally, so Im Happy With Only 500 calories a day ! But consuming 800 calories I would maybe 2 or three pounds a week. GOODLUCK
I've dropped 6 pounds in 4 days this way. This is my first week so I suppose it'll slow down after this. I'm hoping to average 5 pounds a week, but might be wishful thinking. I'm over 200 pounds, though so if you're smaller, I'm guessing maybe less? My guess would be between 5-15 pounds. Everyone keeps saying that its not healthy but I only eat healthy foods every 1-2 hours and fruits and veggies are naturally very low in calories. I also enjoy me some pickles and tea with Stevia for my salty and sweet cravings and I eat a "normal" portion-controlled dinner with a side salad and a 6oz glass of red wine and even enjoy desserts like pudding sometimes. I'm eating better than ever before ACTUALLY! 1200 calorie diets just have never worked for me...I think my metabolism is just really slow; runs in my family. Tonight I get to enjoy pizza with my family...I just have to plan what I want into my calorie count and work around that. Look up foods/snacks under 100/50 calories! There's SO much out there...you probably don't even realize...light string cheese is my go-to (50 calories per). Hope any of this info can help someone out there.
Im 18yo 5'7 and 152lb. Last time I first went from 174 to 145 in about a month. In the beginning i ate breakfast which was healthy cereal and milk then i would have tons of water and then id have a small dinner with some protein and veggies. try not to have carbs after breakfast and don't eat 3 hours before you go to bed. I then leaned off the dinner and just ate breakfast and that would do it for me for the day with drinking water and sometimes diet soda. Im doing it again, started 2w ago at 164 and now im 152. People have noticed how much iv lost. I am going on vaca and have prom. its motivating. iv never been fat because im strong as hockey goalie. Its no healthy way of life. i will start to eat healthy going from 200-800c to 1500c. When coming off a diet u CANT binge, you gain all weight back. Lean off it to healthier diet. I don't suggest this, its unhealthy and HARD. I'v had a eating disorder my whole life, so its different. I suggest seeing nutritionist. You have to be a person who eats to live not lives to eat!!!!
I was in a 800 calories Balanced diet for over two years and i never felt much healthier and capable to do things. I used to be almost vegan exept for fish and sea food once a week. I didnt deprive myself of protein or carbs, but i would mainly eat raw vegetables, or mildly steamed ones, fruits absolute no diary products or any type of refined products, so no tins either. People who had seen me overweight were in schock. It is more unhealthy a diabetes 2, and i needed to have a dramatic change in my feeding habits. In addition after eating only fresh food; salads my whole body skin changed, my face was no longer puffy, changed to the point nobody could believe i was not 23 when i fact i was 32. I used to exercise also well but started unfit. After reaching goal weight rewarded exercise with 900 cals, later with 1000. Please note that my diet was free of proceesed and cooked food but was pretty much balanced. i received the help of a german nutrionist in Dusseldorf. Replacing a pizza of 1200 cals for a bowl of mushrooms of 40 cals was not easy but once you start seing the rewards of your health you carry on. Seek professional advice from sources that will support low calory diets
that depends of your metabolism, but anyway, 800 cal is too small amount... and can be dangerous. Better try proven diet plan like this http://tinyurl.com/dietweeks and get the best results in shortest time period... tested by many happy costumers have a nice day
