What is Hindoostan?

Hindustan is 'land of Sindhu' or land of Hindu. It is also spelled as Indostan. This is a very popular name for the Indian subcontinent. The meaning has evolved over the years. You can get some more information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindustan.
