When vomiting, drinking water is not a good thing. When you have a virus, flu, anything like that water will cause you to cramp, and vomit. The child need's to sip sprite, 7-up, or Gatorade. Even a regular upset stomach might not take the water very well. If your child can't hold anything down "pedialyte" is a wonderful liquid to keep him/her rehydrate, and is doctor recommended. Another thing I found when my son was a baby is "Horchata". It's like a milk substitute. They can usually hold that down. Sold at several supermarket's. I hope your child feel's better soon !
They can have and need water. They need to replace the fluids they threw up. Otherwise, they just get dehydrated. Watered down gatorade is good or the new G2 just the way it is. Pedialyte is great but my kids didn't like it and wouldn't drink it. Dairy products is probably the worst thing you can do! If they throw up again, it comes up like cottage cheese, it's gross! Hope this helps!
