Who kows anything about miniature postal scales?

The name of the scale is Crescent and it was made by the Pelouze Mfg.Co. in Chicago. Patent dates are from 1896 to 1903. This is a manually operated scale for letters only weighing up to 16 ounces. It appears to be made of tin or steel.

In 1840, the postage stamp was introduced in the U. S. In late 1839 and early 1940, several of such devices were introduced to the market. They came in different sizes; larger ones were necessary for all post offices, however, many lesser and often very decorative postal scales were planned for use in homes.
