can you put multiple offers down on shortsales?

Because a short sale is basically still an offer to sell, I am sure that you can put multiple offers in. The reason being, if someone offers more then what you did the first time, then your first offer will already be beaten and cancelled out. Even though the sale will fall short of the liens that are against the property, they still want the highest bid.
