Flea eggs are so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye. If you see fleas or flea dirt, which is small black pieces of flea waste, there are likely flea eggs. They are laid on the animal but often fall off, so you should treat your entire home if you have a flea problem to make sure that you get rid of all the eggs.
Flea eggs are white, smooth, and translucent, measuring about 1/50 of an inch long. Most people confuse the eggs with the fleas' excrement, which looks like little black specks. Together, the eggs and feces create an almost "salt and pepper" like appearance.
